What is MBSR?

Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) is an 8-week, evidence-based program that brings together time-tested practices that guide participants toward moment-to-moment awareness. It was codified by Jon Kabat-Zinn, a microbiologist at the University of Massachusetts where he lead the early program for patients in a chronic pain clinic.

In MBSR...

Participants cultivate awareness which is the practice of paying attention, on purpose, to what arises in the mind, emotions, and the body from moment to moment, without judging it as good or bad. Instead, the invitation is to be curious about what arises and as much as one is able, to welcome and let go of whatever comes. In so doing one is able, with practice, to create a moments of pause that create the opportunity choose how to respond to what one faces instead of falling prey to whatever knee-jerk reaction comes first.
